Needless to say I returned the unit. After countless attempts to install this product, I called customer support only to be informed by their technical support that this unit was not compatible with my operating system (Windows Vista).
I did attempt to install it and after 4+ hours of trying I went to the Toshiba web site and downloaded the latest driver for Vista and Rev. D-Link should have included installation instructions for Vista and all of the drivers. I just received Rev. I have Vista Home Premium for 64bit. That one worked, finally. That was the tip I did not pick up on. Vista told me that the driver on the disc is provided by Toshiba, not D-Link, and Vista will not let it be installed.
Then I found a 2nd setup.exe file deeper into the Zip file. However the first setup.exe file you find attempts to remove the Toshiba driver provided with Vista, but Vista stops that file from completing the removal.
The packaging included an orange notice that if one has a problem installing the adapter to go to the D-Link support site. That driver package includes the driver for the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Vista.
C, the latest design, of this adapter, but the enclosed instructions and software were not for Windows Vista, just XP. C of the adapter.
I will not buy another D-Link item again. I attempted to use the setup disc and found that if you have Vista, you should not follow the installation instructions nor use the enclosed set up disk.
I should have assumed there would be a problem as there was.
I bought a similiar product from the local Walmart store for a couple dollars less. After downloading the software and attempting to use this product I kept getting an error message stating I did not have the proper liscense. I would not recommend the DBT-120 Bluetooth Adapter. No problems whatsoever with the installation. I had to go to the FAQ page to get the instructions. The adaptor finally worked after about 45 minutes of downloading current drivers etc.
Just follow the directions and you are good to go. I use a Mac and had not one problem with the product.
Suck feast. It is advertised as being Mac Compatible, but only if you have USB 2.0. The problem is that the DLink has to work with USB 2.0 and if your Mac has usb 2.0, it probably has the built-in bluetooth already. Their "help" department couldn't answer that simple question, I had to research it myself.
